Good afternoon. I'm starting the preop process for a bone marrow transplant. Any advice?
yes you have to have your stem cells harvested and they freeze them to used either in a few days for the transplant or for a future time. I had enough harvested to use a few days later as well as the remaining ones froze to be used if I need them at a future date. I don't know how much it was because after my deductible was met from previous tests, my insurance covered it. I would talk to whomever would be doing the harvesting because they have a financial department that could contact your insurance and find out that info for you.
Karen did you have a stem cell harvest first? If so about how much did it cost? My doctor is talking about a harvest and storing the cells in case I need them in the future . Don’t know how much my insurance will cover.
Are you referring to feeling that way when getting a SCT or just in everyday life? Because I had a really difficult time eating while in the hospital after my SCT. I lost 15 lbs. Was very nauseous and had diaherra.
