Pain In The Shoulders.

A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭
Sulphur Springs, TX

I have been having severe pain in my shoulders. My primary care gave me a steroid injection and they felt great for about 6 weeks. My oncologist has ordered me a PET scan. Since my kidneys don’t work very good I can’t take any meds with Ibuprofen so can anyone recommend something that might help.

Chuck,
If you are like me, you have a hard time stopping activities that cause the pain in the first place. What helped me was to stop cleaning the pool, stop trimming the hedges or any other shoulder type of work. Then I started taking Curcumin which helps with inflammation and it actually helps with MM too. Also, I started taking 1,000 mg calcium, magnesium, D3 & K2, which helps me with pain and strengthens my bones. The Pet scan will make sure it’s not from the MM. If it is, you need to read @A MyMyelomaTeam Member story about his shoulder.

I know you said pain in your shoulders, but here's a link I thought might help. Can you take acetaminophen? I take the Equate brand 8hr arthritis pain relief 650mg tablets when my back, ribs and hip start hurting. I was told not to take Ibuprofen, just acetaminophen. I would definitely address this with your doctor as well. Hope you get some relief!

Chuck, Tylenol and Lidocaine patches. You might need something stronger if you don't get relief. They gave me Oxycodone. I understand doctors are reluctant to write for it now. I hope your PET is clean. Hoping you just strained something. 🙏

I have a lesion at T3 which involves my shoulder area. I am a very active person and anything I do with my shoulders will cause me intense pain in my shoulder blade. I have to be super careful and will pay dearly if I do too much; however things have to be done so I have pain meds but use some of the other things that have been suggested by others on the team. I also have a shoulder wrap too.
