Yes, multiple myeloma (MM) can cause cognitive symptoms, including memory problems. This decline in cognitive functions can be due to the cancer itself, its treatment, or other factors. If you notice symptoms like memory loss, it's important to talk to your doctor. They can help determine the cause and suggest possible treatments or strategies to manage these symptoms.

Cognitive skills affected may include:
- Paying attention
- Planning
- Multitasking
- Remembering short-term information
- Following instructions

Possible causes:
- Direct effects of myeloma
- High levels of calcium or abnormal proteins in the blood
- Side effects of chemotherapy (e.g., "chemo brain" or "cog fog")

Action steps:
- Discuss symptoms with your doctor
- Explore available treatments or strategies to counteract cognitive decline

Your doctor will know how to help you get the most out of any treatment you decide to try.

Hi Ben,
Yes MM can affect the memory. Have you had a CT scan or Pet Scan of your head? My cousin has MM and MM affected his skull. Now he can’t remember where his favorite restaurant is.

Hai, chemo and all other medicines are made of chemical substances and are toxic, it will affect brain also. But this is temporary and you will get back your health. In my case, I was unable to drive at night due to vision problems. As my condition came to normal/stable now no problem in driving. Drink a lot of water, if you do not have kidney problems.
