I would say SMM is the lowest level of our cancer that is detectable. And MGUS is the next level of intensity.

No, smoldering multiple myeloma (SMM) is not the same as monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS). Here are the key differences:

- MGUS:
- Mildest type of plasma cell disorder.
- Noncancerous and doesn't cause symptoms.
- Lower levels of abnormal plasma cells and M protein.

- SMM

No, smoldering multiple myeloma (SMM) is not the same as monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS). Here are the key differences:

- MGUS:

- SMM:
- Intermediate level of plasma cell disorder between MGUS and multiple myeloma.
- Higher levels of plasma cells and M protein than MGUS but lower than multiple myeloma.
- Noncancerous and doesn't cause symptoms but has a higher risk of progressing to multiple myeloma.

Both conditions can potentially progress to multiple myeloma, but SMM has a higher risk of progression compared to MGUS.

MGUS has low numbers. If you progress to smoldering your numbers will rise.
