Have Any Of You Had To Change From The Generic (Lenalidomide) To The Brand (Revlimid)? And Did You Find That Side Effects Were Different?

A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭
Gap, PA

When refilling my Lenalidomide prescription I was told there was not enough in the supply chain and would have to get the brand Revlimid this month. Have any of you had to switch and did you find differences? I'm a little nervous about this as I haven't had any effects from the generic. And I hope that will hold with the brand. Any answers? The pharmacist says it is the same ingredients.

Generic and Brand have the same "active" ingredients but not the same total ingredients. For some drugs, this does matter. I have no info on Revlimid vs generic. I had 4 rounds of induction with the name brand Revlimid. I did not tolerate 25 mg, but did tolerate 10 mg. I specifically wanted the name brand because research on effectiveness was done with the brand name.

My husband was unable to get cholestyramine. They offered an alternate drug. Hope it works for him.

I’m still on Revlimid but what concerns me is all the shortages in many, many drugs! My Eliquis was out of stock. Same with my wife’s statin and I hear about a shortage in RSV vaccines. What is going on? Is anyone reporting on this?
