Is There A Loss Of MSCs, PSCs Along With HSCs During Stem Cell Transplant?

Question re stem cell transplant - Bone marrow contains several kinds of stem cells Hematopoitic (HSC), Mesenchymal (MSC) and Parenchymal (PSC). We hear only about (pre-collected) HSCs being inserted back. HSCs regenerate RBCs, WBCs, and Platelets. Other stem cells regenerate bone/cartiledge tissues and so on. What happens to loss of these stem cells due to Melphalan? Are these other stem cells collected and reinserted (I hope they are)? I do not see any reference material but I am sure some… read more
