As difficult as it is during the short summers here in East Canada, I spend less time on my motorcycle and more time on my bicycle.

First, we have to get checked out and make sure something isn't causing the shortness of breath. Like clogged coronary arteries or blood clots. Hopefully not. My maintenance meds make me a little short of breath. Anyway, exercise the answer to every thing, really helps. Swimming is really good to help expand and strengthen our lungs. 😉

That's what I do, and it really does help... I wait 5seconds, and do more cycles then 10; depending on why I'm doing the breathing in the first place. Thank you for validating my action. Strange how the simplest things help, over medications sometimes, huh?

To improve your breathing, especially if you have multiple myeloma, consider the following tips:

Breathing Exercises
- Pursed-Lip Breathing: Form your lips like you are about to blow out a flame. Inhale slowly through your nose, hold for one to two seconds, and gently exhale through your pursed lips. Repeat 10 times as needed throughout the day.
- Slow, Even Breaths: Focus on taking slow, even breaths. Breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth.

Positions to Help Breathing
- In Bed: Avoid lying flat. Prop your head up with pillows to almost a sitting position. Alternatively, lie with your knees bent or with pillows under them.
- In a Chair: Sit upright and lean forward, resting your arms on a solid surface.

Daily Activity Management
- Plan Your Day: Limit activities to necessary tasks and take frequent rests.
- Avoid Overexertion: Try to remain relaxed and limit the number of times you go up and down stairs.

Additional Tips
- Clean Air: Ensure you are surrounded by clean air.
- Consult Your Doctor: Always follow your doctor's orders and discuss any persistent symptoms with them.

These strategies can help manage breathing problems and make it easier to catch your breath.
