Seeing A PA Or Nurse Practitioner Instead Of The Doctor
Wondering how many of you see a PA or Nurse Practitioner instead of the Doctor when you have your checkups. I see a PA every other time. The 2 I really liked have left the oncology office. The PA I see now is fairly new having just graduated in 2021 and not sure she has the experience.
Most of the time graduates' are very experienced when they finish their residency. Plus, there are other PAs to helping guide if necessary. so give it some time and get to know them and you should be fine. I too am a Myeloma patient. I have been a patient for four years.
Cat, I see a NP about every other visit. She has a lot of experience and always keeps both my regular oncologist + the MM specialist up to date.
I see a PA periodically, but my oncologist most of the time. If there is a serious issue the PA will bring it to the attention of the doctor.
My doctor has a PA that I will be seeing at times. If there are questions that she can't answer she is to get with my doctor and get the answer. It's new so we'll see.
I for the most see my oncologist but every so often I do see a NP so far they are very through and actually ask eve. More questions than my oncologist. She is very good.unless there is something very specific I need to see my doctor I have had no problem with it that way.
