Pomegranate Boosts Effectiveness Of Velcade?

A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭
Danville, VA

I read that there is a Pub Med study that shows eating pomegranate or using pomegranate powder helps fight MM, as well as boosts the effectiveness of Velcade. Has anyone heard this? If so, was there a mention of the amount of pomegranate (or powder) that is effective?

Thanks!

Never heard of that either. I took Velcade for a short time. Side effects weren’t tolerated. Good luck.

I’ve never heard of that but that don’t mean it’s not true

Andrea,

I don't have any information about the pomegranate powder and Velcade. However, I do have a study about curcumin enhancing Velcade (Bortezomib). I took curcumin before and am taking it after my treatments. I have been MRD- now for 2 years. I have my 2 year test in a couple of weeks. I also eat plant-based whole food meals.
Here is the link (it's a full detailed trial but you can look at the title and the conclusion and fill in whatever you can digest in between). https://febs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10...
