My husband did not have any pain, but had lost weight & was anemic. His GP sent him to a Hem-Onc who did a bone marrow & diagnosed MM
He had a SCT 6 months later 2019 & now on Darzalex once a month
Couldn’t handle Revlimid & previously on VCD

Yes, a singular plasmacytoma destroyed my L3 vertebrae. There was initially pain in my back, but I had thought it tweaked another disc. But then the L3 totally collapsed and I needed fusion from L1-L4 to restablize the back. Radiation was done on the remaining L3. Shorty after my blood work confirmed I was MGUS for MM.

In my abdomen I had a 3-4” plasmacytoma resting against my liver and pancreas. Beginning last May I had five cycles of RDVD chemo treatments that eliminated most of it. The Malaphan chemo the day before Stem Cell Transplant in late October eliminated the remainder. I am now 5 months post SCT, in remission and back to about 95% of myself.

Being non secretory and having been extra medullary makes my MM a real wildcat so my doctor at City of Hope is keeping an extra close eye on it. In fact, I’m having another PET Scan in April, having just had one in February. I have to thank Dr. Janakarim and prayer for saving and extending my life. 🙏🏻🤞

I did. It was in my left collarbone, which doesn't happen very often. It seems MM prefers to hide in long bones. I was in considerable pain. I then began to notice a lump in my collarbone. I thought that maybe I had broken it while cleaning and flipping the paddleboat at the cottage a couple of weeks b4. I went to my doc, and he ordered an xray. Almost a week went by but my doc hadn't received any results. By this time the pain was excruciating. I went to the x-ray clinic, got a copy of the xray, and proceeded to the hospital emergency department. I was seen within 10 minutes, and told it was a plasmacytoma that had broken the collar bone. I was diagnosed with MM on the spot and hospitalized with very strong IV pain meds for 16 days for tests, etc.
On my first visit to the cancer centre in late September, still in a massive amount of pain, my hemetologist had me seen by a radiologist the next day. The radiologist had me prepped with the appropriate mask and performed one shot of radiation treatment. That's all it took! I was so fortunate! Two weeks later I was pain free and started chemo.
