How Long Until Relapse With No Maintenance Therapy?
Hi! I am just past 3 years diagnosis, and 2 years post SCT. I have been off maintenance therapy for over a year due to side effect s. I am now in complete remission for one year. My bloodwork is better than ever.
Does anyone know the longest someone off maintenance therapy has gone without a relapse? Thank you!
Hi Michelle2 - Read my Story @A MyMyelomaTeam Member for details to consider. There’s a testing system called clonoSEQ that can measure from blood or a Bone Marrow Biopsy. If the results are MRD Negative at 10 -6 (no cancer per million cells tested), it’s a very durable remission that could last a lifetime (according to the studies charts at the clonoSEQ site). Know the level of remission is very important such as 10 -5 vs 10 -6, etc. There’s also info at my Story about the value of Curcumin as a natural supplement that has the potential of prolonging remission - see the Link to the NIH Study.
I don't know but I praise the Lord that you are doing so well!!!!
You are truly blessed, Michelle! Sounds like you are doing all the right things. Keep it up!!
Hi Michelle2 - Just remembered. There's a woman on our Forum - possibly Ester (not sure of the name). She's 20 years in Complete Remission after having her SCT and Never going on Any MM Maintenance Meds. She drops in once in a while to say Hi and mention her time being cancer free - typically as each year passes.
Hi, I think you’re at 1 year with no maintenance after stem cell transplant.
With good lab results. Wow that’s great. Keep going. This is awesome news to hear.
Your story is the longest I’ve heard of with no maintenance after a stem cell transplant…….
