New To MGUS / Anyone Have A PET SCAN And FAT PAD BIOPSY?
I understand that MGUS is not MM but is watched carefully because it can change. I am wondering why a PET SCAN? and why a FAT PAD? did anyone else have to have these test when they were diagnosed with MGUS? also - I'd like to hear anyone's stories, suggestions, etc on MGUS. I am new to all this and learning as much as I can. Thank you all.
I had a fat pad biopsy. It was negative but they still suspect amyloidosis. Itβs very bad for your heart and organs. I have a heart condition. My prayers are with you. Merry Christmas anyway!
Hopefully it well get better with treatment πππ
Yes. I had PET CT, fat pad biopsy and other test for baseline. There must be some reason , perhaps light chain MM, to do fat pad bx to check for amyloidosis. I had a fat pad bx every year and unfortunately it eventually was positive..
Cardiac and systemic. Now see a cardiac amyloid specialist as well. Once MM stabilized, so did the amyloid.
Good luck and keep getting those fat pad bxs every year. They now have some treatments for AL yloidosis
Jamessc, welcome to this group. I had PET scans at the beginning of my diagnosis to check for bone lesions from myeloma. They must suspect that you have some amyloid deposits from the myeloma proteins. That is why they are doing a fat pad biopsy. Love Donna
I had a Cardiac MRI, bone marrow biopsy and a fat pad biopsy. Unfortunately I am positive for amyloidosus
