Stem Cell Transplant Data
Any good resources on SCT success rates and data?
Brenda my treatment consisted of Rx Revelimad and valcade I was on a 21 days on and 7 days off. With this treatment we took my M spike number from 3.75 to 0.28 in 5 months. Once I reached the goal my doctor had for me we went in the controlled treatment stage. I am now on Rx Revelimad 10mg three days a week Monday Wednesday and Friday. This is the only meds I take for my cancer. I am doing well and I have 8 months in a row of blood draws with the results of NOT DETECTED. This is good. I do have some of the side effects but if I work at it the side effects don't bother me. God has blessed me and I can't thank God enough for his blessings š.
A list of ASCT research resources that I am aware are as follows;
-There are resource articles on MyMyelomaTeam .
-Healthtree has a series of video courses about Multiple Myeloma topics including ASCT called Healthtree University that features leading MM Specialists.
-Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation has resource information or mentoring.
-The Cancer Centers typically have reference Materials to brief you.
-Make sure you obtain a MM Specialist on your healthcare team to brief and advise you.
There are several items to your choice ; 1. your specific MM, 2. Age, physical condition, 3. Financial conditions, 4. Barriers to geography, support care, length of hospitalization, 5. Isolation period and Covid exposure, etc. it is a personal choice for everyone. Covid may even create clinic issues.
The ASCT is currently the Gold Standard of MM treatments so it needs to be seriously considered. A consultation with your oncologist and ASCT clinic MM Specialist after e search is your good idea. Good luck and hang in there.
I have never had to have a stem cell treatment. My doctor said I am not in need of one and the last 6 months my blood draw proved to be not detected. That's good for me. I thank God for his blessings and for the doctor I have. I was diagnosed in April 2020 and in treatment for 5 months. We took my M spike number from 3.75 to 0.28 and I am now in the controlled treatment stage. I take 10mg of Rx Revelimad three days a week Monday, Wednesday and Friday and as I said earlier my blood draws have been great.
That's wonderful news! Good for you and praise God for His blessing in your care! Thanks for sharing.
Hi Tim,
There are so many articles and documented data that can be found on the internet. I looked under SCT/ Myeloma and saved the articles.
As I am not familiar with your type or treatment regimen, I could not in all fairness discuss what I researched. I am a nurse by Profession and if you type in MM and SCT it will bring you to many different sites including American Cancer Society, Cancer.org.
The more you read and research, the better you will understand.
