Tests For Amyloidosis
This question is for you folks who have both MM and Amyloidosis. I have read that blood tests are used to diagnose Amyloidosis. Specifically, what blood test results should I be looking at if I suspect Amyloidosis?
Anne, They check the eGFR by a blood test. If positive they will do a PET Scan to see where it has settled. eGFR test is a estimated Glomeral Filtration Rate. Amyloidosis is the build up of the glomeral protein. It can attach to the kidney, heart, brain, lungs etc. The pet Scan will find out where the deposits are. They may also do a urine test and look for the eGFR.(glomeral protein). They can also take a tissue sample looking for the abnormal protein. There are different types of Amyloidosis, some are hereditary. It can occur with Multiple Myeloma. Have a good night. Love, Marcia 🌸
Hi Anne, it's been a while since I had a test for amyloidosis, but if I remember correctly, they checked my blood, my urine and did a test on a bone marrow biopsy. It's not a lot different from other tests but they have to be specifically looking for the markers of the protein. Sorry I couldn't be more specific on which test results to look at.
I believe I got a stomach fat biopsy done to test for Amyloidosis.
Sorry I can't help since I had my high dose of chemo and stem cell transplant my memory is shot
You have a PAD biopsy. I'm having mine next week
