Maintenance Other Than Rev?

A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭
Jacksonville, OR

I have a question - Rev did not do much for my wife so she was given Dara which lowered her numbers enough for SCT. Doctors now want her on rev maintenance which seems strange because rev did not really work for her. Any insights would be appreciated.

Ok...non-medical answer: a SCT is like hitting a reset button. It causes your disease, in many cases, to be minimal as if detected very early. Rev has had great results for many in “maintaining” this minimal amount of disease and keeping it from worsening for a period of time. It is a standard protocol. If it fails to maintain, there are other drug combinations. Perhaps they want to try it, in this maintenance protocol, before pulling other aces out of their sleeves that you may not have to use for years otherwise. Having said this, these types of questions should be asked of your medical team.

There are at least 10 different types of Myeloma and more being discovered at the do more research. Some Myeloma responds better to Revlimid and others to Pomalysist and some to Daramethazone or Velcade or another drug or combinations of drugs. There is not one way of treating MM. The more the researchers get to know Myeloma they can make the treatment, patient specific. Hope this helps! Love, Marcia

Yes. All of these meds are prescription drugs, and the doctors need to be consulted. Every case is different. If some medications don’t seem to be working, be aggressive in telling your doctor. Carefully review current test results with past results. I have had few meds stopped only after I brought them up and talked it over with his doctor. Keep a log of when you started each med.

Thank you all for your feedback! Praying for everyone! God is the number1 healer!

yes. My husband took Revlemid with dex. It got him in remission before transplant. After SCT, he is now in complete remission, but suffers from neuropathy . Any suggestions on neuropathy ?
