I get upset when people on here discount stem cell transplant. It's a great option for high risk people. We are both living proof of that.

I'm a bit concerned with some of the messaging in this thread. First of all do NOT stop any medication without consulting your oncologist/hematologist. Secondly, Stem Cell Transplants have an extremely long history of excellent life saving results. Thirdly, before taking any supplements, which are often not regulated, check with your doctor. Self-treatment is not safe! I was diagnosed in 2019, had induction chemo, radiation, Stem Cell therapy, and maintenance. I have not relapsed ever and have been off maintenance therapy for 2 years as I am in complete remission. My life is now normal, thanks to lifesaving medical treatment. I do not take any supplements, but eat sensibly with less meat in my diet. Each of us will have different outcomes and potential complications on our journey, but my case is not unusual. Please - be mindful that not all supplements produce a positive outcome in cancer patients.

I was diagnosed in 2018 , was given 1 month to live, ( unless everything worked perfectly then the hope was SCT for possibly 23 months at the longest) I had my SCT in March 2019, I’ve been MRD NEGATIVE since . Yes it took a good year to bounce back all of the way from the SCT ( I opted not to have the tandem transplants, so just 1 with my own cells ). But I’m going on seven years post diagnoses six years negative MRD post transplant. I know that my case is very rare giving that I have primary plasma, cell leukemia, and that my doctor only has one other patient that has had the success I have had and they did elect to have this tandem transplants. But I do recommend a transplant because it has given me six unexpected years to get to spend with my grandbabies and get to see three of them that were born during this time.

What foods boost natural killer cells?
Selenium: A deficiency of this mineral reduces the number of natural killer cells, while supplemental selenium has been shown to increase their activity. You need 55 micrograms per day. Good sources include tuna, halibut, shrimp, and brown rice.
