Fragments can break off of the large myeloma molecule and enter the blood stream. From there they can lodge themselves in the tissues of other organs, such as the kidneys, the heart, etc. And of course they can affect the bones. So far, I have avoid any significant damage at all to any organs. I am anemic as a result of the multiple multiple myeloma. This contributes to my exhaustion, which has other causes as well. My white blood cell count is also low; thus my immune system is compromised. I receive a monthly infusion of gammaglobulin try to prevent opportunistic infections. This is almost totally successful. I must be careful to keep it that way.
