Paula, my mother in law is 93. She's always telling the rest of us how to eat. I find it very irritating. Her siblings all lived to their late 80's or 90's. Some people are just blessed with good genetics. PET scans work because cancer cells do use up glucose faster that normal cells. But all cells need glucose. I admit I feel lots better since I'm not eating processed food and sugar. I've lost 30 pounds since my transplant. I do believe that a good gut microbiome is important for our immunity. But so many people on here are thin and healthy and they still got myeloma. I just don't know what to think

I have a terrible sweet tooth but I have been cutting back with natural sugars in fruit. I don't like sugar substitutes...just dont. . I do use raw honey to put into my yogurt etc. It's difficult to blend into some things. I love Ezekiel bread (a little pricey for me, but it's a trade off for not paying so much for my prescriptions). It is flourless and is just ground up whole grains and seeds. It has substance too....to fill the appetite.
I'll have to try the almond butter; since I don't care for peanut butter.
Heels? omg....LOL I haven't worn those in years and now I'd probably lose my balance and end up in the hospital. She really is an inspiration....
I know refined sugar is not the best thing, but some things, I just love the taste of, like chocolate, etc. etc.

I never had much of a sweet tooth. I inherited one after my SCT. I couldn’t leave sweet stuff alone. My whole taste profile had changed. It’s gradually getting back to normal. I gained a bunch of weight after my transplant on 06/02/2021 but have cut out sugar and carbs as much as possible after throwing a couple of high blood sugar levels, sugar is in everything. I’ve lost 23 lbs now and I still have terrible neuropathy I check my blood sugar twice daily and walk a mile everyday with my two girl schnauzers. I’m still in remission, my labs are checked every 3 months and I’m MM med free.

It's not hard to find reason not to eat sugary foods, the hard part is not eating it.

Louise; I haven't done any vigorous walking; more like a stroll, but I'm moving and that's the important part. I lift weights too; heavy planting pots. laundry, ....and other boring lifts.
I have a large crockpot that makes a great weight. I use it a lot and with canning coming up, more.
