Has Anyone Sought IVIG Outside Of The US When Insurance Denied Treatment? Or, Has Anyone Found IVIG For Less Than $5.5K?
I am seeking affordable IVIG. Dr has prescribed but insurance has denied preauthorization and appeal.
I found an article in HEALTHTREE.ORG that speaks to IVIG preventing myeloma cell growth and actually killing myeloma cells. As I am still smoldering, this line of treatment speaks to me. https://healthtree.org/myeloma/community/articl...#
So IVIG stands for Intravenous immunoglobulin treatment, one of the reasons doctors regularly test the blood of people with myeloma is to check levels of antibodies. If antibody levels become too low, doctors sometimes recommend that people with myeloma receive intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) to bolster their immune system and help protect them from infection.
A study published in 2015 reviewed the incidence of infections in 162 people who underwent autologous stem cell transplant for multiple myeloma. Some participants received IVIG, while others did not. Researchers found that there was not a significant difference in the number of infections or the seriousness of infections between the IVIG group and the non-IVIG group.
Not sure its worth the out-of-pocket costs, Eden, based on above research. I found the answers above at https://www.mymyelomateam.com/treatments/intrav....
Hope this helps and you're well.
