My name is Paul and I just asked the above question. I am not good at being on this site. I need to learn how to use it. I am sorry if I offended anyone.

Hi Paul,
I’ve seen some posts say get it, and others say they had an SCT and it only lasted 8 months. From what I had read and listened to on the podcasts, SCT in many cases does not give you a longer life. Doctors are now saying that the 20+ drugs available are just as good or better. Check out @A MyMyelomaTeam Member he did a lot of research and has had good results. Just click on his name and his page should pop up. For me, I don’t think I am going to do anything. I have 2 genes that don’t allow my body to metabolize drugs so they become toxic in my body. Frankincense (DDR Prime) may help with side effects for some. Nutritional yeast (Bob’s Red Mill) and Alpha Lipoic Acid can prevent neuropathy. I hate throwing up so I don’t blame you for your reaction.

I would second Christine's comments. But I also think you've got to go with your gut (sorry) feeling.

@A MyMyelomaTeam Member I think that maybe it’s a sign. With the new meds less people are having an SCT.. I sure don’t know the particulars but I think sometimes we are guided down the path we are to take. Best wishes!

Welcome! I don’t like being nauseas either. Look up the Determination trial by Dr Richardson. I was on the trial to see if a transplant early was best. Well latest is SCT not always necessary, unless high risk genetics. You can collect your stem cells and put them on hold in case. With all the new meds a SCT may not be used as often. I had one, got arm B but back then it was standard of care. The other fear of SCT is increase in secondary cancers. Go with your gut!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Shipmate Paul, I agree with the other shipmates. Discuss your nausea problem with your doctor. It’s very important. Believe me there are so many medications for nausea. You will be fine! I definitely recommend a stem cell transplant, even though it’s only been 21 months for me. In two weeks I will get to see my oldest grandson receive his First Holy Communion and the same day my youngest grandson (they are brothers) receive his baptism. He will be 3 in June. My poor grandson was never baptized because of me being so sick with MM, no immune system and also Covid. Paul, remember you are in God’s hands. Turn to the Lord, he’s our Captain and will steer you in the right direction. Please keep us posted on your decision. Wishing you a blessed weekend with smooth sailings. God bless you.
